Maura launches ‘The Way to the Crock Road’

LOCAL Maura Campbell launched her book ‘The Way to the Crock Road’ at a special night in Ardboe Parish Centre at the weekend.

In attendance was Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, MLAs, councillors and local historian Roy Hamilton.

Maura’s book is a reflection on childhood memories growing up in Ardboe during the 1950s and 60s.

“At the time rural Tyrone was a world away from what it is now,” said Maura about her new book.

“Everything was very different, growing up with no electricity, running water or the comforts of modern life gave me a perspective on life which has stayed with me.

“Being part of a family of six children had its own experiences that many of my friends and neighbours can relate to. It was a life before television so you had to discover the world around you for yourself and being in the countryside on the lough shore I was always close to nature.”
