Crebilly Road safety meeting held

DUP MLA Paul Frew has described as “useful” a second site meeting at Ballykeel with representatives from the community, Tesco and Roads Service to discuss pedestrian safety concerns in the Crebilly Road area.

Cllr Frew said: “There is no doubt this is a major issue for Ballykeel residents. I’m in Ballykeel nearly every week and it’s never far from the conversations I have with residents. It is also very clear that this road and the traffic on it would qualify for a crossing of some description exactly where the island is at present. This would make it much easier for pedestrians, especially older residents, to cross over to do their local shopping,” said Mr Frew..

He continued: “Tesco have a live planning application which entails some road safety enhancements which I believe are badly needed and the meeting was held in order to probe Tesco on their plans for the future and also to stress to them the extent of the issue.

“I believe the meeting was useful and Roads service and the local community representatives were able to put their points across to Tesco personnel who have agreed to get back to me in due course in order to advance this issue,” said the DUP MLA who extended his thanks to all who attended the meeting.
