City of culture workshop

MEMBERS of the public interested in having an input into the Londonderry bid for UK City of Culture 2013, are invited to attend a cultural workshop next week.

Organised by Derry City Council in partnership with Ilex and the Strategic Investment Board, the Cultural Workshop will take place next Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 10am-2pm in the Playhouse, Artillery Street, Londonderry.

Encouraging the public to get involved in the city's bid, Oonagh McGillion, temporary Director of Development with Derry City Council, said the cultural workshop is aimed at giving interested groups and individuals the chance to come up with ideas and suggestions on the process for short listing the calendar of events for the UK City of Culture 2013.

"The cultural workshop is a chance for everyone to get involved in this important bid for the city. Whether you are a cultural, educational, business organisation or a talented, interested or supportive individual, there's a place for you in the year of culture and we would like to share the ideas received to date.

“We are confident that there is a real creative energy of public and private sector agencies who can help us with this great opportunity for our city and region. "
