Caught out on food delivery

When he was seen delivering food in Lurgan it was discovered that a 33-year-old man did not have the proper insurance to cover him.

Steven Gerard Byrne, whose address was given as Maple Court, Lurgan, was fined £250 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for not having insurance on October 10 this year.

He was also given six penalty points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that he was delivering food at Church Walk in Lurgan and his 
insurance did not cover 
him.

A solicitor representing Byrne said would deliver food on an occasional basis, maybe fortnightly or once a 
month.

He added that on this occasion he was covering for his cousin and wasn’t aware he had to have business insurance.

He was trying to make extra money for his two children.

The solicitor said that five days later Byrne rectified the situation with the insurance.
