Carnival time and arts in the parkbring colour to Larne festival

The theme of this year’s free festival, which took place over ten days, was Tall Tales, and brought classic childhood stories to life.

Several storytelling events took place throughout the event, with local businesses getting into the spirit by competing with literature-inspired window displays and promotions.

On Saturday, crowds lined the streets of the town centre for a carnival parade through Larne.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Paul Reid, said: “A huge congratulations to all of those involved in the organisation of what was a brilliant festival.

“There really was something for everyone and it was wonderful to see so many schools getting involved.

“The carnival was superb and the weather really played its part. There were eye-catching costumes, live music and performances, specialist cars, tractors and lorries. It was a terrific day out.”

Sunday’s Arts in the Park event showcased the Borough’s wealth of talent and included artistic, literary and drama performances.

Among the highlights was a fashion show by internationally renowned designer Geraldine Connon.

Visitors to the park were also given the opportunity to try art sessions, live music, storytelling and readings.

Local artists showcased their designs in various exhibitions, including a series of specially designed lamppost banners.

The event was organised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
