The officers discovered a hacksaw which did not belong to the homeowner and were able to identify the defendant, Jason Ian Milligan, 19, from Boyne Row.

District Judge Alan White told the defendant that because of his clear record he would not consider an immediate custodial.

Instead he suspended a four month sentence for two years.

He further ordered that Milligan pay compensation of £400 towards the injured party.
