Burgers and ice cream are the order of the day

JR Dowey’s was one of a number of butchers who doing a roaring trade - they reported selling 2,000 burgers an hour..

The smell of sizzling meat was in the air on Saturday afternoon, and that was just the people who had neglected to apply sun cream.

Large queues were observed at Cafollas on several occasions over the long, hot weekend as residents sought ice cream to cool down.

Lurgan Park, Craigavon Balancing Lakes and the shores of the Lough proved popular destinations for those looking to catch a few rays or indulge in a spot of watersports.

At St Brendan’s Primary School in Craigavon they made the most of the sunshine by having a beach party, made possible by the delivery of several tons of sand and the arrival of Mr Whippy.

The beach party linked in with the holiday and travel topic being studied by one of the classes at the school.
