Bond’s Hill man abused French

A man who shouted at tourists and pulled flowers from the flower boxes along the Foyle has been warned he must ‘stabilize his life.’

Damian Walls (34) of Bond’s Hill, Londonderry, admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour on August 7, when he appeared at the local Magistrate’s Court.

The court heard that uniformed police on cycles saw Walls shouting at people on the Peace Bridge.

Police escorted him from the bridge and convinced him to go home. but as he walked away he started pulling flowers from boxes along the river and began shouting at a group of French tourists. A prosecution lawyer said the tourists just happened to be there and there was nothing racist in the incident.

Walls was given a conditional discharge for a period of two years.
