Packed with lots of activities, advice and information relevant to the men of today, the event once again well supported

Coleraine FC fan and co-organiser Ian McAfee explained the need for such an event: “Of the hundreds who stand on the terracing or sit in the stand at Coleraine Showgrounds on a Saturday afternoon the vast majority are males and the main aim of the event is to support and provide advice to them on their health and wellbeing,” said Ian.

“Life expectancy for men in Coleraine is almost five years less than women while males have higher death rates than females for virtually all of the leading causes of death.

“We are not in the way of telling anyone what to do, but what we want to do through this event is provide choices. As men ourselves we are well aware that many health conditions are preventable and that men are the worst at presenting themselves to the doctor early. The event gave men an opportunity to discuss and receive advice on a range of topics most relevant to them.”

The organisers wish to thank the Causeway Rural & Urban Network and the Public Health Agency for funding the event.
