The club was established in 2003 and has thrived on the support and commitment of the community, providing a facility for young people to learn the game of football and encourage social development and growth in a safe environment. A club spokesperson said: “The club wants to give something back to the community which has supported them. What better way than to raise funds for the purchase of two public access Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for Ballyclare, to enable 24/7 access to lifesaving equipment. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is when the heart stops unexpectedly and knows no boundaries. When a person suffers SCA the chance of survival is nine per cent. However, with CPR and the use of a defibrillator, the survival rate increases to 50 per cent. AEDs are expensive, at approximately £1,500 each, but worth the investment.”
