Architect of the Year award

The son of a Waterside couple has been awarded the title of Architect of the Year for the Middle East.

Jason Burnside is the son of Sam and Freda Burnside, 20 Montgomery Close, and is now working as an Associate Partner with the Dubai-based firm of Gordon Johnston Austin.

A former pupil of Rossdown and Cathedral Primary Schools, Jason is also a past pupil of Templemore Secondary School and also studied at North West College of Technology before being encouraged by his father to go on to further study, which he did at Dundee University, Scotland, where he graduated with honours in architecture.

Jason’s first post was with a London company, Clarke Associates, where he worked for five years before moving to Dubai, where he has been based with Gordon Johnston Austin for 12 years.

Jason is married to Helen and the couple have two children: Toby, aged eight and Maddie, aged six.
