Apex backs Children in Crossfire bid to aid communities

A LONDONDERRY housing association has teamed up with local charity Children in Crossfire to help provide sustainable improvements to communities in Kenya and Tanzania in an attempt to improve the lives of people living in poverty.

Over the last two years, Apex has been providing funds to the Miwaleni Community based in Tanzania where living and working conditions are very difficult.

As a result, £75,000 has been raised to date, which has provided funds for the construction of a health clinic.

This clinic provides much needed health services for all the people of the Miwaleni area with one of the aims being to prevent malaria. 125,000 people die of malaria each year in Tanzania, two thirds of these are children. Apex sees this work as only the beginning of what we can do and is committed to raising more funds to work with the people of Miwaleni to provide opportunities for them to improve their quality of life.

Apex is holding a charity fundraising dance at the DuPont Club on Friday, June 10, 2011 in aid of the Miwaleni community.

Music is by Christine Mullan with a guest appearance from Jessie James. 8pm – late.

Tickets are £5.00 and are available from Stacey on 02871304855 or Caroline on 02871304848 at Apex Housing, 10 Butcher Street, Londonderry.

Your support for this event would be greatly welcomed and will go along way in helping the people of Miwaleni.
