Alternative routes sought for buses during Cloughmills work

Councillor Cathal McLaughlin has taken the issue up with Translink after receiving a complaints from residents of the area.

“I have been contacted by a number of people in Cloughmills who have raised their concerns about the timetable for local buses. Indeed the Ballymoney service has stopped running through the village completely,” said Mr McLaughlin.

“Translink have said this is due to the major road works taking place on the A26. In particular, pensioners have to pay for taxis in order to access public services or walk from the village to the A26 at Logans Fashions, and with cold weather upon us, this is not a very comforting option.

“Furthermore people with disabilities, single parents and carers rely proportionately more on public bus services in order to access town centres and other facilities.

The Sinn Fein representative added that public transport operator is currently considering a number of options which he hopes will result in the resumption of this service.

A spokesperson for Translink said: “We are currently investigating alternative access routes into Cloughmills.”
