Addressing ‘lack of sports facilities’ in Carnlough

East Antrim’s two Sinn Fein representatives have attended a meeting in Larne Town Hall to discuss sports provision for people with disabilities.

Oliver McMullan, MLA was accompanied by Councillor James McKeown at the event, which was also attended by representatives from Mid and East Antrim Council, Causeway Coast and Glens Council, Sports NI, Disability Sport, Special Olympics and the Northern Trust.

Mr McMullan said: “There is a lack of sporting facilities – especially in the Glens and Carnlough areas – including a lack of an all-weather pitch or MUGA facilities.

“This was a chance for all the relevant agencies to work out the needs for the entire community, including those people with disabilities. I thought it was very constructive and a good start in developing a realistic strategy. There will be another meeting before Christmas, where I hope we can begin to put together a plan to help deliver new local facilities.”
