'˜A moment of inattention'

A three month driving ban was imposed on a man last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention on July 9 this year.

Kenneth William Millar (55), Lynedale Manor, Portadown, was also fined £75.

The court heard that at 5.30pm a car driven by the defendant crashed into the rear of a car on the Avenue Road in Lurgan.

The injured party was waiting to turn right and the crash was seen by an independent witness.

Millar told police he thought he had enough space to pass the car and couldn’t understand why he crashed into the car.

Mr Richard Monteith, representing Millar, said it was a moment of inattention of the part of his client. He added the defendant thought a right turn manoeuvre was going to be perfected but it wasn’t.

Mr Monteith said that his client was currently disqualified until January 24 next year.
