60k STIattendancesat Altnagelvin
THERE were over 60k attendances at Altnagelvin’s genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinic over the past ten years by people seeking treatment for venereal diseases, the Health Minister Edwin Poots has revealed.
Across Northern Ireland the total number of attendances since 2002/3 was a staggering 245,835.
Revealing the total number of attendances at outpatient clinics within the GUM speciality at Altnagelvin, Mr Poots advised there were 61,238 attendances in all.
This does not equate exactly to the total number of patients that attended these services each year, as a single patient may have had multiple attendances.
