-5 at 9am leads to roads chaos

BALLYMONEY road users battled through some of the worst conditions of the winter during Tuesday morning rush-hour chaos.

Temperatures on the main road between Ballymoney and Ballymena were reading at minus five and that was a 9am.

A crashed van poked out of a hedge on the A26 section between the Burnquarter and Glenlough Roads.

Southbound traffic virtually ground to a halt for periods on the main road whilst northbound traffic was reduced to under 30 mph.

And in the town motorists also faced problems and other car users came to the aid of a motorist who could not get his car out of the top of Union Street.

There were some near misses as cars skidded at roundabouts like Rodeing Foot. More inside.
