2020 are '˜One to Watch'

2020 Architects starved off fierce competition to be named '˜One to Watch Company' in the UK-wide Construction Computing Award 2016.

The highly innovative and exciting architectural practice picked up the award despite coming head-to-head with massive software giants Vectorsworks and Sypro Management. 2020 Architects were the only company in Ireland selected by judges to be represented in this category. The award ceremony was held at a glitz gala event at BMA House, London on November 3rd.

The Ballymoney-based architects picked up the award following the opening of their new state-of-the-art virtual reality suite – the first of its kind in Northern Ireland.

Wearing a VR headset, clients alongside the architect, can customise their design with various simulations to optimise design preferences. Not on a screen - but in the same way they do in the real world. By tilting their head up, they can see the ceiling and lighting design, by looking straight forward, feature-walls, room design and doors and by looking down they can see flooring options.

By transforming 3D CAD models into interactive walk-throughs, architects and clients can evaluate aesthetic and design alternatives in real time.

Gareth Boyd, Director of 2020 Architects said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have picked up this outstanding award. We faced strong competition in this category, but in terms of ‘One to Watch’ Company, 2020 Architects continually promote innovative architecture and strive to stand out as leaders in our industry offering clients a unique experience. 2020 is paving the way for contemporary architecture throughout Ireland.”
