THERE are no neuro-therapists providing treatment and care in an outpatient setting in the Western Trust and just three performing the role across the whole of Northern Ireland.

Health Minister Michael McGimpsey said there were no such specialists providing therapy in an out-patient setting for people with progressive neurological conditions in the Western, Southern and South Eastern Trusts.

By contrast there are two in the Northern Trust and one in the Belfast Trust.

The Minister explained how physiotherapists otherwise provide treatment across a range of settings across Northern Ireland.

He explained: “Physiotherapists with neuro-disability skills provide services to people with a wide variety of neurological conditions across all Health and Social Care Trusts, however these services are provided within a variety of settings, not solely within an outpatient setting.”
