The curtain came down for the final time at the Regal Cinema in 1986.
The last film to be shown at the Curran Road cinema was the hit movie E.T, but not even a high turnout of viewers on that evening could save the venue from closure.
The Larne Times revealed at the time that “the cinema had been threatened with closure in the past, but had managed to struggle on,” until the end of August 1986.
The building was set to remain open five days a week to be used as a bingo hall, but the days of movie matinees were consigned to history.
It was unclear what the long-term future of the building was going to be.
It had been up for sale for a time, before being taken off the market.
