Strathfoyle library to hostwildlife action

A WILDLIFE action day including the planting of a wildlife hedge and the construction of bird boxes will take place at Strathfoyle Library on Thursday (March 28).

The Library will be hosting the event between 10am and 3pm in partnership with the Enagh Young Roots project and the Faughan Valley Landscape Partnership.

Visitors can help plant a wildlife hedge around the library garden, make bird boxes to take away or enjoy many of the other activities being held in the library.

David Bradley from Enagh Young Roots project, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this Wildlife Action day, where local young people are getting involved to create a lasting impact through planting a hedge around their local library and as the hedge grows into the future, so to will the young people’s affinity with their local environment.”

Philip McLaughlin, Strathfoyle Branch Library Manager, said: ‘We are very excited to have a Wildlife Action Day in Strathfoyle Library and we hope that people of all ages will call into the library throughout the day to have fun and learn more about what is being done to help wildlife in the Faughan Valley area. We hope that callers to the library will sign up for free library membership which will allow them enjoy a range of library services, including access to a range of books and other material on local wildlife.”
