Rita scoops Best In Show cup

Rita O’Lynn, a multiple prize winner with a selection of roses and pot plants, won Best In Show at Larne Borough Council’s annual flower show.

She was presented with the coveted Cllr Bobby and Betty McKee Cup for a cactus exhibited in a 24-inch pot.

In Larne’s own version of TV’s Great British Bake Off – staged for the first time in the newly renovated Larne Market Yard – Julie Robinson triumphed with a fruit cake to win the Ethel Smith Cup, but was pipped to the Cllr JR Beggs Cup for most points overall in the home industry section by Ivan Morrow.

Billy Hunter’s massive cabbage won him the Larne Borough Council Parks Department bowl for the best floral or vegetable exhibit.
