Bull’s Eye barman’s full of Olympic cheer!

Mark Herald (28), who pulls pints at the Bull’s Eye pub, was nominated by his aunt, Fiona McFarland, because of his charity marathon running.

A thrilled Mark, who carried the Torch at Seacoast Road, Bellarena, last Monday, said: “Running with the Olympic Flame was one of the most surreal and fantastic experiences ever. It’s definitely up there as the best thing to ever happen to me”.

Mark has raised more than £7,000 for charities such as Chest, Heart and Stroke foundation, Foyle Hospice and Fibromyalgia Action.

He has run in a number of marathons worldwide including New York, which he completed in three hours and thirty-eight minutes.

His charity work has involved fashion shows and football matches, including a successful fundraiser when the Bull’s Eye took on their Lodge Hotel counterparts.

Mark added: “I’ve always wanted to run in marathons and for it to benefit others as well as myself.”

Bull’s Eye owner, Stephen Warwick, said: “I’m very excited for Mark as he is achieving a large sense of fulfilment.

“As a business we are proud to have an excellent staff representative taking part in such a high profile event. It’s good to see young people giving back to the community.”

Mark hopes to raise more money for charity by taking part in the Berlin Marathon and Great North Run.
