Herbie Park as membership officer is delighted that Darren Galbraith and Nicole O’Neill have joined the Club in recent weeks.

Indeed they are the youngest members of the Club since it was Chartered in 1965. Lion President Anne Henry welcomed them into the Club and handed over their membership certificates and badges at two recent meetings.

The Club’s funding applications to Ballymena Borough Council and the Big Lottery Funds “Awards for All” have been successful in respect of launching a second round of Message in a Bottle.

It was first launched in 2006 when it received funding to provide 12,000 bottles for vulnerable, elderly and people living on their own in the Borough.

This time as a top up for others wanting the same “peace of mind” they have now received 4,200 bottles for distribution in the future.

There will be more about the details of this later when the Club have discussed distribution etc with the PSNI, the NI Ambulance Service, the Fire and Rescue Service and GP’s, Pharmacies and Health Centres etc.

The Club extend their thanks to the Borough Council and The Big Lottery Fund for their financial support for this very worthwhile project.
