Tribute: Norman Henry Young

Born at Dunadry in 1937, Norman was the son of Elizabeth and John Young and was brother to Jim, Joe, Denis and Phylis.
Norman was a great sportsman in his early years. He played darts for the Ulster bar and Pickens in the Randalstown League and over the years he amassed well over 100 cups and trophies. He was a also member of Antrim Angling Club.

Hide AdNorman was a long standing member of the loyal orders. He was a former chairman of Antrim Apprentice Boys of Derry Murray club, was a member of Boyd Memorial LOL 312 (Burnside), Loughs Followers RBP 318 (Burnside) and a member of Royal Arch Purple Chapter LOL 312.
He was a great follower of Linfield Rangers and Leicester City football teams and often attended Windsor Park with his son John and grandsons Murray and Norman. He enjoyed a wee flutter on the horse racing and was a keen collector of old motorbike images. He had a busy life. However, losing his wife Mary a few years ago had a long-term impact on Norman.
The esteem with which he was held in the Antrim community was reflected by the many people, far and wide, who paid their respects and left tributes following his passing.
Norman is survived by his sons Norman and John, and daughters Elizabeth and Anna, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
