East Antrim Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson was delighted to attend a sod-cutting event at the new site of Corran Integrated Primary School on Tuesday morning.
Mr. Dickson said: “The event marked the beginning of construction at the site of the new school at Seacourt Road, Larne. It was exciting to see the beginning of the long-awaited school.
Acting principal Kevin Furey said: “We are delighted to have eventually got to this stage and are looking forward to having a modern purpose-built facility where we can continue to deliver learning and teaching to the highest standards possible.
“It was the perfect present for the whole community as we celebrate our 25th anniversary and as recognition of all the hard work of pupils, parents, teachers and governors past and present. Exciting times lie ahead.”
The new £3 million school building is expected to be completed by summer 2018.
The new building will include ‘top of the range technology in the classrooms, innovative and interactive outdoor spaces and parking.”
