The school, which has pupils in the 3-19 years age range who have severe learning difficulties and other additional needs such as autism, sensory processing disorder, complex medication needs and social and emotional needs, said it was “delighted” to gain the recognition.

In a post on their Facebook page, Roddensvale added: “This award recognises the school’s commitment to developing a culture of nurture and compassion, creating a threat-free, safe environment around the children.

“The assessment took place on November 9 and the staff were commended for their compassion and holistic approach in meeting the needs of all pupils.

“One of our Senior School students wrote a piece on what Roddensvale means to her and this formed part of the evidence file for the assessment.

“Wellbeing and pastoral care remain at the heart of everything we do.”

Meanwhile, the school also set up an Amazon wishlist for the purchase of items for classes, such as toys and sensory equipment.
