Carrickfergus community donating items for 200 hampers for vulnerable

Over 200 hampers are to be distributed to elderly and vulnerable people in Carrickfergus after the community got behind an appeal for donations.

East Antrim UUP MLA John Stewart, who is co-ordinating the initiative, praised the kindness of people in the Co.Antrim town.

Mr Stewart, who is also a businessman, said: “I have been blown away by the generosity of people following the appeal for donations to the food hampers project.

“We had started doing a few hampers earlier this week for elderly and vulnerable people currently shielding or self-isolating but the demand far outweighed supply.

“We are now planning to distribute over 200 to hampers locally but need your help to do this.

“If you would like to donate something please send me a private (Facebook) message with your address. You can leave the items on your doorstep and we will collect them today

“I am so grateful to each of you that have already donated goods or offered financial support to this and to everyone that has offered to help. You are all amazing.
