A scoreline of level pegging would have been appropriate at half time as Ballymena PS pushed forward looking for an equilising score.
They were however stretched as a result and moving towards the end of the 1st half Ciaran Campbell popped up to slot home and give the St. Brigid’s boys a 2-0 lead at the short whistle. The scond half mirrored the first and the game ebbed and flowed from end to end.
Five minutes in St. Brigid’s winger, Patrick Ferris placed the ball sweetly into the Ballymena net followed swiftly afterwards by a fourth goal from team captain and midfield maestro Aidan Graffin. Ballymena PS never gave up and there was time to reduce the deficit with a well taken goal late in the game leaving a final scoreline of 4 goals to 1.
This was St. Brigid’s first victory in the Senior Cup following a first final appearance three years ago.
