Show was a tribute to Rosaleen

Last week’s Dominican College production of ‘Guys and Dolls’ had it all!

All three performances went down a treat, with a packed school assembly hall audience.

Each night the cast received a standing ovation, in celebration of the energy and power of their performances both individually and collectively as a cast.

Thursday night’s special guests were the three children of former Dominican Vice Principal and Head of Drama, Mrs Rosaleen Corrigan, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Mrs Kathy Walsh (Director) and Mr Terry Cloughley (Musical Director), decided to reprise ‘Guys and Dolls’, a show previously directed by Rosaleen in the 1982-83 school Year.

Rosaleen’s three children, Mark, Neil and Brianna, returned to school to see the show produced in recognition of their mother, and her enduring legacy.

Brianna Corrigan delivered a moving tribute to her beloved mum and the school.

The superb cast transported a rapt audience to 1950s New York City. We meet “good old reliable Nathan Detroit” (Conor Molloy) and his gambling acolytes in search of lady luck. Nathan accepts the dare of making a bet with Sky Masterson ( Timothy Davidson) much to the chagrin of his long suffering fiancée of fourteen years. (Anna Warke) whose mission is to finally marry Nathan. Meanwhile, Sarah Brown (Ellen Duguid) on her own

personal crusade to “convert Broadway all by myself” is the unwitting victim of a bet taken by Sky that he can lure her to Havana.

The stirring finale brought the entire audience through the floating crap games of NYC to the heady nights in Havana and back to the mission hall were dice rollers are transformed into “holy rollers”.
