Centenary ramble

The farm is part of Greenmount College, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The five-mile route is steep in places and suitable for most people who do some walking. It will take approximately two to two-and-a-half hours.

Walkers can assemble at the tourist office in Glenarm at 1.15pm, or at Greenmount Hill Farm office on the Glenhead Road (just off the Ballymena-Larne Road) at 2pm.

Regular Glenarm walkers should note the change of time on this occasion and should be mindful that the Olympic torch will be passing along the coast from Larne on that afternoon, which will bring increased traffic.

The ramble will be led by David Gregg, who promises some very good vantage points. Starting at the farm office, the walk follows the farm lanes as far as the Shillanavogy Road, then retraces part of the route to enjoy the views from the other direction. Some of the lanes are steep, so sturdy footwear is recommended, as well as walking sticks or poles.

Refreshments will be served picnic-style after the walk.
