‘Across the Sea’history talks

The theme for this series is Across the Sea with each talk focusing on the lives and achievements of local people who emigrated to Canada, Australia and New Zealand and looking at the impact they made on their adopted lands.

The first talk in the series takes place on Monday 28 September when Mr Blair will be looking at Canada, and includes the amazing life of a young lady from North Antrim who lived among the native people in Northern Ontario who gave her the name Princess Enook-Wash-Cohash (brave woman) and business entrepreneur Timothy Eaton from Clough who became known as “shopkeeper to a nation” .

These and many more fascinating stories will be included in what promises to be an entertaining start to the new series. The talk begins at 8pm in Ballymoney Town Hall and admission is £2.

The next talk in the series on Tuesday 3 November, moves across the sea to Australia with the series concluding on Wednesday 25 November in New Zealand.
