Larne Ladies’ Hockey Club’s firsts had no game at the weekend as the planned match against Ballyclare had to be postponed due to the Foundry Lane club having re-arranged Irish Trophy fixture.

The Seconds earned a valuable three points, defeating Pegasus Thirds 3-0 with goals from Amy Beggs, Kirbi Stewart and Jennifer Swann.

It was a hard-fought match, but Larne made the most of their chances and coach William Blair was delighted with the performance.

Larne II: C Morrow, K Neill, J Swann, K Stewart, A Beggs, J Wilson, K McIlwaine, D Henry, C Blair, A Snoddy R Beggs, Z Purdy.

The Thirds were in action in the second round of the Junior Cup against Malone. The match was played on gravel which gave the home team an advantage as the Larne girls are used to playing and training on astro. Larne got an early goal from Jackie Spence only for Malone to respond with a quick equaliser. It was end-to-end stuff for most of the game with Larne having to adjust their style to cope with the playing surface. Eventually Larne’s Rachel McIlroy got the winning goal just before the final whistle to put the Larne side through to the third round.

Larne III: T Neill, S Russell, P Crawford, F Hamill, AL McCormick, T Martin, J Poole, J Spence, L Liddle, S Russell, S Evans R McIlroy

The Under-13’s took part in a Mini League tournament at Mossley on Sunday, winning one game and narrowly losing three. The girls are getting valuable match experience and club officials expect the second half of the season to be very positive. Special mention goes to Morgan Burke, Ellen McCarlie and Heidi Smythe who all scored for the club and Jazmyn Murray who had a great game in goals.

Under-13s: J Murray, K Doey, M Miller, M Burke, R Ferran, H Smythe, E McCarlie, R McKay.

The club would like to congratulate and send best wishes to coach Andy King and his wife Katie on the birth of baby Caleb on Sunday - a brother for Juliette.

Fixtures (December 15): 1st XI v NICS 2:30pm at Larne High School; Belfast Harlequinns v Larne II (4pm) at Deramore Park; Saintfield v Larne III. Sunday, December 16: Under-15’s v Carrick (11am) at Larne High School.
