ATHLETICS: Blair first home for Larne AC at Woodburn

Larne Athletic Club runners were among the overall series prize-winners as the East Antrim Harriers Trail Series came to a conclusion on Tuesday evening at Woodburn Forest.

Patricia Blair was first home for the club over an undulating 4.3-mile course. She began at a fast pace – her time for the first mile was 5:41 - her quickest ever.

She finished as third female runner on the night in 24th place overall with a time of 29:38, winning the prize for second-placed female in the overall series.

Andy Gregg, nursing a hamstring injury, started more conservatively and was pleased to cross the line in 27th place in a time 29:55.

Charlie Meban was next in 46th place (32:28), also picking up a series prize as joint-winner of the Vet 65 category. Lorraine Wharry finished 65th (34:44), closely followed by Jenna McCollum in 67th (35:06) and Roberta Barham in 72nd (35:27).

Hugh O’Boyle was next in 88th (37:45), Karl Simpson was 93rd (38:05) and Emmett Woods claimed 99th spot (38:37) to take another step in his Fifty-For-50 challenge in support of Epilepsy Research UK. Clare McGuinness hit the tape in 111th (40:58) alongside Dan Magill in 112th (40:59), while Margaret Ferguson in 154th (54:46) completed another very enjoyable race series.
