Larne Ladies’ 1st XI banked their first Senior 1 league win of the season with a 5-2 success over local rivals Ballyclare on Saturday.

Larne came flying out of the blocks, scoring three goals inside the first 15 minutes through Laura Withers and Kerry McIlwaine (two).

Ballyclare pulled one back with a Jade Purdy penalty stroke, before Withers got her second shortly before half time.

The second half was a much quieter affair with Ballyclare starting the better of the two teams. Kerry McLeod scored their second goal of the game after only five minutes of play.

However, Larne were able to lift their game again and scored their fifth through captain Ruth Dalton with five minutes remaining.

A solid performance from the home team gaining three valuable points, puts them joint-top of the league with Portadown.

Team: T Neill, G Russell, R Beggs, Rebecca Dalton, L Snoddy, M Finlay, G Rennix, Ruth Dalton (c), C Holmes, I Carmichael, L Withers, L Craig, K McIlwaine, D Henry.
