Gers and Saints share spoils

Larne and District Pool League: In the top-of-the-table clash, honours were shared as Saints drew 8-8 at home to The Gers.

The Gers led 2-0, then trailed 6-2 before fighting back to edge 7-6 ahead with two frames to play. Bill McIlroy Jr levelled for Saints, but a classy clearance from Alan Murray restored the Gers’ lead. In the 16th frame Shaun McAlister ensured a point for the hosts.

Thatch had a solid 10-5 home win over Feathers to go clear in second spot and Ibrox remain unbeaten in fifth after they thumped Thatch Rockets 14-1.

William Irvine’s No. 1 Club are top of the pile after turning on the style in a 13-2 win away to Dhu.

No. 1 Reds got back to winning ways courtesy of a 9-6 success against St Comgall’s. Stablemates No. 1 Blues, however, lost 9-7 to Highfliers, while L.I.P.S. jump up to 11th with a 10-5 win over bottom team Larne FSC.
