The Ulster Cup last-eight match proved to be a close affair with Cairndhu securing a 4 - 3 lead to take to the return leg, which will be played at Castle Hume GC on Sunday, August 11 (tee-off, 2pm).
Ronnie Ferguson’s Fred Daly team took on Belvoir Park GC at Masserene Golf Club on Sunday in the competition’s first semi-final. As expected, the match turned out to be very close, but it went the way of Belvoir over the last holes and they secured a 5-2 win.
Barton Shield team captain Stephen Taggart took his team to Shandon Park Golf Club on Sunday where they lost out to Clandeboye in the semi-final against a very strong North Down side.
Twenty-four hours later Cairndhu’s Junior Cup team travelled to Moyola Park Golf Club to play the Roe Park GC in the semi-final of this year’s competition. It proved to be a very close match and it went the way of Roe Park in a 3 - 2 win.
