Larne Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club captain Alan Masson welcomed 28 players to his Captain’s Day Tournament on Saturday (August 31).

Play commenced at 2 pm with players paired by random selection and placed in one of two sections.

The winners from each section then played a final match which was very entertaining for the spectators. James Boyle and Lynsey Smythe proved too strong a pairing for Derick Jenkins and Caireen McCloskey.

The day was completed with a meal in the clubhouse and the presentation of the Captain’s Day Tournament Trophy to James and Lynsey. The Men’s Player of the Year award went to Noel Polley, the Ladies’ Player of the Year title to Caireen McCloskey, and the Captain’s Trophy to Glyn Allen.

Alan Masson thanked everyone who attended for making the day such a success – he complimented Glyn for his role as coaching co-ordinator, Caireen for her work with the Tiny Tots and the Beginner Adult sessions, and Beth for her work with the junior coaching programmes.

The autumn coaching programme is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 20 and all details are available on the club website www.lbltc.co.uk

The club intends to hold an Open Evening on on the same date to promote the sports of Tennis and Bowls.

New members are being offered the opportunity to avail of a discounted membership package, details of which are available on the club website.
