Reigning champions All Saints faced a tough week with an away game to fortress St Cedma’s, followed by a home match against challengers LB&LTC.

The first game was hotly contested and the Saints did manage a draw and a win, but as always St Cedma’s made home advantage count and won the other two games for an excellent 5.5-1.5 success.

In their second game All Saints, who are similarly unbeatable at home, welcomed the bowlers. The first-half points were shared as Michael Murphy won 8-4, but Nigel Todd’s 13-2 success gave the Saints a healthy seven-shot lead.

The second half was tight throughout but the home side finished strongly to record a decisive 6-1 victory. Terry Crawford won 12-7 and Simon Beggs 9-8.

The top of the table continues to make interesting reading with Raloo still clinging on to top spot.

Elsewhere, Craigyhill finally broke their duck this week when they entertained Islandmagee. They picked up three rink wins for an unexpected 6-1 success.

Ballynure caused another shock when they defeated Whitehead 6-1 away.

The final game involved the resurgent golfers Cairndhu and strugglers Gardenmore. Brian Houston and Paul Stinson got the golfers off to a great start with 14-3 and 11-5 ups in the first half.

Darren Taylor’s quartet played well for a 14-5 success, but Dale Bodles avoided the whitewash with a fine 13-8 win.

Gardenmore were unable to field a full team for this one but credit to the home team who have improved throughout their campaign.
