Larne relay team bring back gold

LARNE Swimming Club was this week celebrating a successful weekend in the pool when its girls' medley relay team took home gold at the Irish Age Group Championships Division 2 at Limerick University.

Led by Coach Neil Irvine, the team of Hannah Fergie (backcrawl), Kerry Ramsay (breaststroke), Megan Kerr (butterfly) and Catriona McAllister (freestyle) stormed to a first-place finish in the 15/16 age group.

There were also individual successes on the first day of competition when Fergie took a silver in the 200m and came seventh in the 100m backcrawl, while Kerr took fifth place in the 200m butterfly, all in season's best times.

David Hamilton, Taylor McIlhinney and Ramsay also secured season's best times in the 400m freestyle, 100m backcrawl and 200m, respectively.

Saturday saw the team build on its success as the girls' freestyle relay team won a bronze medal in the 13/14 age group. The team was made up of Nicola Irwin, Ramsay, McIlhinney and Fergie.
