Woodside on the whistle at Milk Cup

The roll call of distinguished past players from Larne Youth include internationals such as Jeff Hughes and the likes of Paddy McLaughlin, Adam McGurk and Robbie Weir, all plying their trade across the water. Neither is it unusual for Larne Youth to have a representation at the Milk Cup, with old boys such as Jack Ferguson and Michael McKenna expected to take part in this year’s competition.

Yet there is another ex-Larne Youth player who is already guaranteed to be there all week; up-and-coming referee, Andrew Woodside. Proving that it’s not just footballers that come off the club’s conveyor belt, Andrew has steadily been making a name for himself, and has refereed the Irish League under-19 League Cup Final between Linfield and Cliftonville, and was fourth official at the Harry Cavan Youth Cup final. The 19-year-old is the son of Larne Youth chairman, Nat.
