Larne’s Gareth McAuley has signed a new one-year contract at West Bromwich Albion.

News of McAuley’s new deal at The Hawthorns emerged on Monday, less than 48 hours after he featured at the heart of Northern Ireland defence in the Euro 2016 qualifier with Romania, which finished 0-0.

The 35-year-old, who began his career in the Irish League and once had a loan spell at Ballyclare Comrades, has scored eight goals in 138 appearances for the Baggies.
