The 30-year-old, who made 22 appearances with the ‘Cod Army’, becomes Cambridge’s ninth summer signing.

The winger has had spells with Notts County, Crystal Palace and Bristol Rovers, said he hopes to be part of a promotion push with his new club in the 2015-16 season.

“I missed out on the play-off final at Wembley with Fleetwood a few seasons back so I’m certainly looking to make amends and see a real possibility of doing that with Cambridge United,” he told club’s official website.

“I will be on the hunt for goals and I do feel that my experience will offer a calm head on the pitch. I think it also important to have a winning attitude.”

He added: “We have a good squad here and I’m very hopeful we are capable of a good season together.”

Cambridge United finished 19th in League Two in the 2014-15 season.
