The first real chance of the match came when a free-kick from Stuart King on the left fell to Gerard Reynolds but his shot was straight at Jack Boggs.

Dergview forged ahead on 17 minutes when Neil Coulter’s cross found John Edgar and he got to the ball just ahead of John Connolly and he nicked it over the keeper and into the net.

Things got worse for Larne six minutes later when the home side doubled their lead. Breaking quickly from defence, Edgar fired the ball across the face of goal for Nathan Cashel to provide the finish.

Reds boss Davy McAlinden quickly rang the changes sending on Stuart Scott and Darren Stuart to replace King and Reynolds.

Larne kept battling and ensured a thrilling finish when Murray made it six in three games, scoring directly from a corner.
