The Larne Swimming Club member broke his fourth Irish Junior record of the week in the 200m backstroke heats.

The 15-year-old, who broke the 100m backstroke record twice and the 50m backstroke record, took almost a second off the record (2:03.12) which he had held since the Irish Open Swimming Championships in May. The Jordanstown native touched in 2:02.30 to place fifth in his heat and 13th overall.

The 200m events at the World Junior Championships do not have semi-finals with just eight swimmers progressing to the final.
