Second pre-season defeat for Ballynure

Ballynure Old Boys suffered their second defeat in their pre-season friendly programme when they went down 4-0 in Portstewart on Saturday.

The Championship 2 side scored two unanswered goals in each half. “The 4-0 scoreline flattered Portstewart,” said ‘Nure manager, Gary Burns.

“There was no hint of danger during the opening 20 minutes, but then they hit us with two screamers that gave Ryan Higgins no chance.

“In the second half Sammy Duff had to take over in goal, and that along with the introduction of our two subs caused a major reshuffle.

“We conceded two more goals, and near the end I had to come on myself up front, but we were unable to break them down.”
