BRENDAN Rodgers was the toast of Carnlough on Monday afternoon as he guided Swansea City to the promised land of the Barclays Premier League.
Scott Sinclair’s hat-trick helped the Swans overcome Rodgers’ old employers Reading in a thrilling 4-2 win at Wembley.
The financial prize for Swansea is an estimated £90m and Rodgers can now look forward to going head-to-head with the likes Sir Alex Ferguson, Kenny Dalglish and Arsene Wenger.
He will also have the chance to take on Chelsea, where he was a reserve team manager under Jose Mourinho.
The former Ballymena United player has enjoyed his most successful managerial season to date, steering the Welsh club to third place in the nPower Championship and ensuring a return to the top-flight for the first time since the early 1980s.
