Ogilvie sinks Mallusk, Whites put seven past Carnlough

Intermediate Division: While Ballynure Old Boys went top with a 2-0 win over Dunloy, it was a day to forget for Castle Star as they lost 6-0 to Magherafelt Sky Blues.

McReynolds Cup R1: Rathcoole FC exited the competition at the first hurdle in a 2-0 defeat to Brantwood. Chris Rafferty’s 37th-minute goal put the Belfast side in front and Steven Bainbridge’s late penalty killed off Rathcoole hopes.

Junior Division One: Cookstown Olympic got the better of Carnmoney with a 3-2 victory. Carnmoney found themselves two down early on before Darren Jordan reduced the deficit in the 23rd minute. Cookstown restored thier two-goal advantage just after the break and Carnmoney’s Jonny Reilly set up a tense finish when he found the net in the 88th minute.

There was a welcome win for Woodlands who defeated Mallusk Athletic 2-0 in Greenisland. An early own goal and a Thomas Ogilvie strike on the hour secured the win for the Carrick side.

Goals from Chris Loy (two), Kyle Rooney, Jonny Montgomery eased FC Whiteabbey to a 4-2 success over Magherafelt Sky Blues Reserves.

Junior Division Two: Jonny Kane netted Ballynure Old Boys B’s only goal of the game as they went down 3-1 to Brantwood Reserves.

Junior Division Three: Goals from William Cushley (four), Billy Brown (three) and Jonny Wells gave Mountainview an 8-0 win over 1st Carrickfergus Old Boys.

A Jon Fox double and another goal from Steve McGregor saw Remo Reserves defeat Castle Star Reserves 3-0.

Whitehead Rangers defeated Carnlough Swifts 7-2. The Whites went in five goals up at half-time as Phil Hall, Ryan Clawson (two) and Danny Hastings (two) found the net. Hall added another after the break and Michael Brown also scored. Carnlough’s response came courtesy of two penalties.

Elsewhere, Mallusk Athletic Reserves lost 5-0 away at Ballysillan Swifts Reserves.

Irish Junior Cup R2: Goals from by Jonny Robb (two) and Jared McFadden were not enough for Krag Albion as they lost 4-3 to Ardmore.

Alan Murray scored FC Larne’s only goal as they lost 3-1 at Rathcoole Reserves.

Other results: Ballyclare North End 0 v Sport & Leisure Swifts Res 3; Red Star 0 v Glendermott 1 (after extra-time).
