Larne FC set to mark 125th anniversary

Having been formed in 1889, Larne Football Club is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

A specially-formed supporters’ committee is currently planning a number of exciting events throughout 2014 to mark what is a very significant milestone in the club’s history. The first of which is the release of commemorative pin badge, which will be available for sale in the next few weeks.

A spokesman said: “We are also planning an exhibition and would be grateful for the loan of any artefacts as part of this. This might include shirts, medals or any form of memorabilia which we will return once the exhibition is finished.

“We are also hoping to compile the written history of the club and again are grateful for any information of family connection to the club or information in general, so that we can make the work as comprehensive as possible.

“Finally, if anyone would like to be part of the supporters’ 125th committee please come along and you will be more than welcome. As ever, the club belongs to all of us and we would like to acknowledge the role the club has played in the life of the town, as a whole.

The next meeting will be held in the social club at Inver Park on Sunday, March 2, as we discuss more special events.”
