JBE LEAGUE CUP: Larne players give their reaction to Portadown defeat

Larne players have taken to social media to give their views on the teams performance in last night’s 4-1 defeat to Portadown in the JBE League Cup.

Midfielder Cónall McGrandles tweeted: “Great to get my first 70 minutes under my belt this season for @larnefc. Very unlucky tonight, we were superb. Onto the next one.”

Frontman James McCabe wrote: “Good performance from the lads tonight - never a 4-1 game, take the positives from tonight and take it forward into Saturday.”

Defender Stuart McMullan added: “Strong performance tonight, everyone put in a good shift...@GuillaumeKeke is a wrecking ball, well done big stuff, first of many I hope.”

Cliftonville loanee Guillaume Keke, who scored Larne’s only goal, said he was disappointed to lose his first game in a Larne shirt. He tweeted: “Keep the head up lads, Saturday (is a) new game! Thanks for your support everybody!”

Next up for Larne is Saturday’s trip to Institute for in Championship 1. The Inver Reds have lost two of their opening three league games while Kevin Deery’s ‘Stute have yet to pick up a point.
